NEXT-GENERATION
METAL MINING
We are developing a transformative
mining technology that extracts metals
without excavation or fracking
VISION
REINVENTING METAL MINING
At Ekion, we are pioneering a groundbreaking mining technology, known as Electrokinetic In Situ Recovery (EK-ISR).
This innovative, 100% electric process extracts metals without the need for excavation or fracking of the ore body.
It produces zero mining waste, requires no dewatering of aquifers, and eliminates the generation of harmful dust.
As a result, our environmentally-friendly approach significantly minimizes the impact of mining on the local and global ecosystem.
OUR FOCUS AREAS
We help unlock the resources the world needs on its path to decarbonization
RECOVERY FROM TAILINGS
Globally, there are over 35’000 tailings dams storing substantial reserves of critical metals. EK-ISR is a game-changing technology that redefines metal recovery from tailings, as it is the first and only solution that eliminates the need for rehandling the waste.
RECOVERY FROM INTACT ROCKS
We extract metals from ore deposits that are considered inaccessible or uneconomical for traditional mining methods, including conventional ISR. Think of it as the mining industry’s analogue to keyhole surgery, where EK-ISR can provide access to isolated and other types of stranded assets.
RECOVERY OF REEs
EK-ISR is uniquely suited to extract clay-hosted REEs from deposits underlying ecologically sensitive areas or land used for agriculture. In combination with the recovery from tailings or hard rock ore bodies, we can increase the resilience of supply chains with minimal environmental disruption or restricting land access
WHY EKION
A truly transformative approach
- a new paradigm of metal mining
EK-ISR eliminates many of the problems that threaten mining's social license to operate.
We extract the metals required for the green transition with a dramatically reduced impact on the environment.
We are dedicated to developing clean and responsible mining solutions that can seamlessly coexist with local communities - now and in future generations.
